Emergency Rule Extends Licensure Waiver for LPNs, RNs, APRNs to Temporarily Practice in Hawaii
News Release from Healthcare Association of Hawaii
The Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs has a new emergency rule which extends the licensure waiver and allows LPNs, RNs, and APRNs, who have a current and unencumbered license in another state, territory, or country, to temporarily practice in Hawaii.
The emergency rule is effective for 120 days (eff. 12/5/2022 – 4/4/2023). Each nurse’s authorization to temporarily practice is valid for 90 days after the date of confirmation by the DCCA.
In order to receive an emergency temporary permit for out-of-state licensed nursing staff, healthcare entities must submit a list of those seeking temporary practice under the waiver to the DCCA. Please see the following link for the required form and the address of the Board of Nursing (at the end of the form) to submit once complete: "ER-form-for-list-of-nurses"
Full language of the emergency rule can be found here: "2022-Nurses-Emergenc-Rules"
