How to Ensure Better Budgeting for a Better Economy
from Grassroot Institute, August, 2022
Tired of runaway government taxes, spending and debt? Learn what we can do about it from budget expert Daniel Mitchell
Find out how Hawaii can tame the local beasts of high taxes, excess government spending and ever-mounting public debt by attending one or both of two luncheons sponsored this month by Grassroot Institute of Hawaii.
Explaining how to bring our state and local governments under control — to the everlasting benefit of Hawaii both economically and socially — will be nationally renowned economist and Grassroot Scholar Daniel Mitchell, co-founder of the Center for Freedom and Prosperity, based in Alexandria, Va., and publisher of the daily email newsletter “International Liberty.”
Mitchell’s writings have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Forbes, USA Today, Investor’s Business Daily and many other publications. He is a frequent commentator on television and has appeared on all the major broadcast networks, including CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, CNN, CNBC and C-SPAN.
At his appearances in Hawaii, he will outline options such as spending caps, fiscal notes, rebates and a taxpayer bill of rights as ways Hawaii's state and county governments can balance their budgets, pay down debt, build rainy-day reserves, foster economic growth and, not coincidentally, produce more tax revenues without adding new taxes.
His first presentation will be on Maui, Thursday, Aug. 18, starting at 11:30 a.m., at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului. Admission is $10 and includes parking. Register to attend the Maui event here.
His second will be on Oahu, Friday, Aug. 19, starting at 11:30 a.m., at a private club in downtown Honolulu. Admission is $30 and includes parking. Register to attend the Oahu event here.
