FILING OF FINANCIAL DISCLOSURES BY CANDIDATES FOR STATE ELECTIVE OFFICE
News Release from State Ethics Commission, July 28, 2022
All candidates for state elective office are required by law to file a disclosure of financial interests (“candidate financial disclosure”) with the Hawai‘i State Ethics Commission (“Commission”).1 A candidate financial disclosure includes information about a candidate’s sources of income; business ownership interests; officer or director positions in businesses; debts; real property interests; clients represented before state agencies; and creditor interests in an insolvent business. Candidate financial disclosures are public records and are available for public inspection.
The statutory deadline for candidates to file their candidate financial disclosures with the Commission was Monday, July 25, 2022. A total of 237 out of 266 candidates filed their disclosures by the deadline; these disclosures are posted on the Commission’s website at https://tinyurl.com/2bb4wh8j.
The Commission is required by law to release to the public a list of all candidates who failed to file to a candidate financial disclosure by the statutory deadline, and to assess a late filing penalty fee of $50 against those candidates.2
The Commission did not receive a candidate financial disclosure by the statutory deadline from the following candidates and will assess a $50 penalty against these candidates:
