by Andrew Walden, April 1, 2022 -- Update June 7, 2022
Honolulu District Two Councilmember Heidi Tsuneyoshi is announcing plans to seek the Republican Gubernatorial nomination.
The recently divorced former wife of convicted cocaine dealer Chad Tsuneyoshi, Heidi is the only elected official seeking the Republican nomination and therefore is likely the frontrunner will now have to beat former Lt Gov Duke Aiona to win the nomination. Aiona pulled papers June 4, 2022 and filed June 7, 2022.
Meanwhile back in Council District Two, Makua Rothman pulled papers on March 4, 2022. (UPDATE: Filed.)
Makua’s father is Eddie Rothman.

Due to a last minute entry, Makua Rothman may now be forced to split the 'penchant for violence' vote with Chad Tsuneyoshi. Perhaps expecting to capitalize on his last name, the ex-husband of Heidi Tsuneyoshi pulled papers Monday, June 6, 2022 and filed Tuesday June 7, 2022.
