Mayor Blangiardi appoints Art Tolentino to HART board
News Release from Office of the Mayor, March 1, 2022
HONOLULU – Mayor Rick Blangiardi announced today his appointment of Arthur “Art” Tolentino to the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) board after board member Hoyt Zia delivered his resignation letter in December 2021.
“Art Tolentino is a well-respected member of our community and dedicated public servant,” said Mayor Blangiardi. “Art’s management background at Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation (SMART) Workers Local Union 293 and his experience on the Planning Commission make him the perfect candidate to help guide the board as it navigates complicated issues like utility work through the Dillingham corridor, City Center procurement options, and on-going discussions with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).”
“I am humbled by Mayor Blangiardi’s appointment and will work to restore trust in the largest public works project in Hawai‘i’s history,” added Tolentino.
Tolentino’s appointment begins today, March 1, 2022. His term expires on June 30, 2025. HART board members are volunteers and are not compensated for their service.
