HAWAI‘I'S UNEMPLOYMENT RATE AT 7.0 PERCENT IN AUGUST

HONOLULU — The Hawai‘i State Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism (DBEDT) today announced that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for August was 7.0 percent compared to 7.3 percent in July.
Statewide, 601,800 were employed and 45,550 unemployed in August for a total seasonally adjusted labor force of 647,350.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.2 percent in August, down from 5.4 percent in July.
The unemployment rate figures for the State of Hawai‘i and the U.S. in this release are seasonally adjusted, in accordance with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) methodology.
The not seasonally adjusted rate for the State was 6.6 percent in August, compared to 6.9 percent in July….
