Rumble welcomes eight nationally recognized thought leaders to its platform
News release from Rumble, August 12, 2021
TORONTO, August 12, 2021 – Rumble is proud to welcome Tulsi Gabbard, Glenn Greenwald, Bridget Petasy, Matt Orfalea, Siraj Hashmi, Mujahed Kobbe, Shant Mesrobian and Zaid Jilani to our video-sharing platform. These prominent new voices add to Rumble’s deep pool of content talent and further enhance the platform’s breadth and depth of offerings to our viewers.
Although very diverse, this group of individuals does share one characteristic: a commitment to challenge the status quo, seek the truth, and share it. They also all believe that the internet should be free, and that tech monopolies should not dictate discourse. Rumble is their natural home and we welcome them to the family.
Rumble has experienced massive growth in recent months. In just the past year, Rumble has experienced over a 25-fold increase in viewership – with no indication of slowing.
“We are in a battle against trillion-dollar monopolies that use advanced algorithms and AI to amplify content and drive profits. For too long, the incumbent platforms have been able to subjectively ban or deliberately steer people away from content – all without any accountability and competition to keep them in check. Rumble is challenging this power structure, and the addition of these prominent creators further strengthens the cause of free thinking, open debate and discussion. Rumble will never censor civil discourse, opinion, or act like the arbiters of truth,” Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski said ahead of the announcement.
Tulsi Gabbard, the former congresswoman from Hawaii and 2020 Democrat candidate for president, noted, ”Big tech monopolies act with impunity as they police our speech, squash debate, and censor those whose speech they deem “unacceptable”. This is incredibly dangerous and directly undermines the fundamental principles of free speech that are at the heart of who we are as a country. Their actions fly directly in the face of the commitment that I and every service member has made – we may disagree with what you are saying but we are willing to die to protect your right to say it. Rumble is a platform that is committed to free speech, and stands diametrically opposed to big tech monopolies censorship and policing.”
Glenn Greenwald, the founder of The Intercept and a Pulitzer-Prize-winning investigative journalist, says, “The goal is to forge independent spaces to liberate journalists and other content creators from the tyranny of Big Tech. Many writers, from across the political spectrum, have been censored or excluded from mainstream platforms and Rumble gives these voices a chance to express themselves without having to worry about baseless attacks by the government or other self-appointed gatekeepers.”
Greenwald intends to continue the “System Update” long-form documentary-style program he created while still at the Intercept and then continued at Substack, but said he intends to use the move to significantly expand his video journalism, including regular commentary on news events as well as regular live interactive chats with his readers. The show will be available on Rumble exclusively for 2 hours prior to being available on any other platform.
According to Pavlovski, “Rumble was built on the belief that creators should be given equal opportunity to freely express themselves, reach their followers without restriction, and have access to the best tools the industry has to offer. Our newest additions are proof that the mission is succeeding.”
Rumble, started in 2013, is one of the most respected independent and privately-owned companies in the online video-sharing platform industry, with over 25M users every month.
