Excess cocaine overdose deaths during 1990-1997 period.

Convicted cocaine dealer and MMA fight promoter Chad Tsuneyoshi may not be satisfied with just having his wife on the Honolulu Council.

Chad’s brother, Earl Tsuneyoshi, February 25, 2020, formed a campaign committee and is printing signs to run for Council District IX (Ewa-Waipio) against well-known comedian Augie Tulba and former State Senator Will Espero.  The seat is being vacated by Ron Menor due to term limits.

Chad Tsuneyoshi, April 4, 2000, was handed a sentence of five years in a federal penitentiary and an additional five years of parole for his part in a cocaine ring prosecutors say imported as much as one metric ton of cocaine into Hawaii between 1990 and 1997.  (See chart above)

About the time his parole ended, Tsuneyoshi began working a strategy to win political influence.  In 2011 he became Ernie Martin’s campaign treasurer and his wife Heidi Tsuneyoshi worked on Martin’s staff.  Heidi proceeded to win Martin’s seat in 2018 when he termed out: She now serves as Councilmember for Dist II (North Shore).

Chad Tsuneyoshi’s campaign contributions over the years include:

Tsuneyoshi doesn’t always win.  He gave Trevor Ozawa $495 in 2014.  After a legal scuffle and re-vote, Ozawa in 2018 lost Dist IV (East Oahu) to Tommy Waters -- in part because of Ozawa’s relationship to Mike Miske
