by Hawaii Family Forum
We have received many calls in our office asking about the status of HB 444. The civil unions bill, HB 444 HD1, is still in the same position it was at our last alert.

Although the Senate Judiciary Committee ended with a tie vote (3-3), there is still ongoing discussions happening at the capitol in regards to a potential pull of the bill from committee for a vote on the Senate floor.

A link to a document prepared by Retired Judge and Pastor, Elwin Ahu, is here: HB 444 backgrounder

It gives a breakdown on the history of same-sex marriage/civil unions in Hawaii.

Also, please visit our website, if you would like more information at http://www.hawaiifamilyforum.org/

The bill could be pulled at any time, so please call and visit your own State Senator and State Representative. Tell your Senator that you do not want HB 444 pulled from committee and that you are against civil unions. Tell your Representative that you would like to go on the record as being opposed to civil unions (HB 444). Ask all your friends and family to do the same.
