Hawaii Republican Presidential Vote Set for March 13
By Jonah Ka`auwai @ 10:18 PM :: 6796 Views

Message to Republican Party membership from Hawai`i GOP Chair Jonah Ka`auwai,  September 21, 2011

For the first time in history, grassroots Hawaii Republican voters, on March 13, 2012, will be voting on their choice of Republican Presidential nominees. March 13 may be your best chance to participate in picking the next President of the United States.

The Hawai`i Republican Party is organizing March 13 voting sites for all 51 State House Districts as well as Moloka`i, Lana`i, Ni`ihau, and Hana so that every Republican in the state will be able to participate.

The voting will occur on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 6-8PM. The March 13 Presidential Caucuses will not be mass meetings, they will be organized as a Party-run Primary Election. (The traditional Hawai`i GOP District Caucuses to select delegates for County and State Conventions will be scheduled to occur separately.)

To participate, all voters must show photo ID. Every voter will be required to fill out a Hawai`i Republican Party card in order to participate. Voters who do not show up on the State Voter List will be able to register and vote on the spot with ID showing their Hawai`i address. We look forward to thousands of new Republicans joining the HRP at the March 13th Caucuses. Complete Caucus rules can be found in the Hawai`i GOP Rules, Sections 214-216.

Supporters of the various Republican Presidential campaigns will need to turn out the vote for their candidate in order to win more of Hawaii's 17 Delegates and 17 Alternates to the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida. The more votes your candidate gets, the more delegates he or she will receive. Several Republican Presidential campaigns are at work already in Hawai`i and two candidates have visited the state.

Hawai`i Republicans can help by volunteering to staff the Caucuses and by helping with Caucus site selection for your House District. Training will be provided for all volunteers. The Hawai`i GOP Caucus Organizing Committee has reserved about 50% of the sites needed statewide. With your help we can complete this process quickly so that the Presidential campaigns will know where to send voters. Please contact Party HQ or check with your House District Chair.

The caucuses are designed to be financially self-sustaining, but your financial contribution to the Hawai`i Republican Party will help prepare our Legislative and Council Candidates to meet and greet the thousands of Republicans who will be turning out to vote on March 13. Please contribute HERE.

We will soon send out an update with Caucus locations and contact information for the Presidential campaigns active in Hawai`i.

Mahalo,

Jonah Ka'auwai

Chairman
