More news from around the country as Governor Neil Abercrombie, implementing a "top priority” of his administration, heroically crusades against the “demonic, eviscerating” Birther hordes. Meanwhile no news to report on the Abercrombie administration’s plans to subdue the $71M current-year budget deficit or the $771M 2010-2011 budget deficit. But that’s understandable as we must all make sacrifices in wartime.
For some reason, most of the local media has not reported on any of this since Christmas--a day nobody is paying attention, thus perfect for ‘limited hang out’ of embarrassing news. Could it be that they are trying desperately to hide the fact that Abercrombie is making a fool of himself nationally? Nah. Just because they did that for the 20 years Neil was in Congress is no reason to think they would do it now, right?

Abercrombie did not say whether he is considering making the birth certificate public, but he conceded he would not be able to convince some skeptics no matter what he put out. "Conspiratorial theorists are never going to be satisfied," he said. "This has gone into another area of political attack."

It's the rumor that won't go away, despite multiple investigations by fact-checking groups that declare it bogus: the claim that President Obama was not born in the US, and is therefore ineligible to be president.
Now, it's surfacing in the news yet again, this time thanks to the newly elected governor of Hawaii, Neil Abercrombie….

The Department of Health had received 27 requests for the president's birth information this month as of last Thursday, up from 16 in November, said spokeswoman Janice Okubo.
Information requests rose despite a new state law allowing officials to ignore persistent and repetitive inquiries, a law that has been used about six times by the department, Okubo said.
"It's just a few people, and some of their requests are the same," she said. "The requests fluctuate from month to month."
Nearly all birth certificate information seekers are from the mainland United States, with requests rarely coming from Hawaii residents, said Cathy Takase, acting director for the state Office of Information Practices.
Takase usually responds to appeals for Obama's birth records by telling requesters that the information they're seeking is contained in records protected by statute.
