New maps alert

News Release from Common Cause Hawaii, September 24, 2021

Our community mapping event is next Tuesday and we're so excited to see you there! Join us to learn more about this year's redistricting cycle and meet other Common Cause Hawai'i members.

The Hawai'i State, Honolulu County, and Hawai'i County redistricting commissions are drawing new voting district maps this year!

These redistricting maps will determine who we can elect to represent us at the federal, state, and county levels and what resources our communities receive for the next ten years.

You -- The People -- have a say in the process and how these voting district maps are drawn. You can testify before each Hawai'i State, Honolulu County, and Hawai'i County redistricting commission about your community to ensure that your community is properly represented.

You can also draw your own redistricting maps and submit them to the commissions. You may have drawn a better map than the commissions themselves!

Learn how to draw your own maps for the 2 House of Representatives, all 76 State legislative seats, and 9 Hawaii County Council seats on the very software used by the commissions!

Learn how to draw your own maps for the two Congressional seats, all 76 State legislative seats, and 9 Hawaii County Council seats! Will you join us to learn how to produce your own redistricting maps?

Presentation: Learn How to Draw Your Own Redistricting Maps!
Date: Tuesday, September 28, 2021
Time: 6 pm Hawai'i Time
Location: Zoom link provided with registration!

Our state redraws its congressional, state, and local county voting districts every ten years, and we need to make sure those maps represent us as accurately as possible. You can produce your maps on the same software used by the reapportionment and redistricting commissions! You can then share your maps with the Commissions for their consideration. Your maps may more accurately and fairly represent your community!

Join us on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 6 pm to learn about how to draw your own redistricting maps! Fair and transparent voting maps will enable us to truly hold legislators accountable on the issues we care about most.

Mahalo for all you do,

Sandy Ma, Executive Director
and the team at Common Cause Hawai'i
