MEDICAL ASSOCIATIONS ENDORSE DUKE AIONA FOR GOVERNOR

HONOLULU – Lt. Governor Duke Aiona today announced that the Hawai`i Ophthalmological Society (HOS) and the Hawai`i Medical Political Action Committee (HAMPAC) have endorsed his campaign for Governor.

“The Hawai`i Ophthalmological Society's political action committee members invite all of Hawai`i's physicians to join them in endorsing Duke Aiona based on his commitment to advancing affordable, quality health care in the state of Hawai`i,” said Joseph Zobian, M.D., an ophthalmologist representing Hawai'i's society of eye physicians and surgeons. “Duke Aiona understands the need to put the public’s interest above special interests, which includes enacting meaningful tort reform that protects our doctors and hospitals. In these difficult times, we need his continued support of our efforts to provide the people of Hawai`i with the highest quality medical care possible.”

HOS is a group of medical doctors who provide the people of Hawai`i with complete eye care. The organization is dedicated to the continuing medical education of its members in the latest advances in medical and surgical treatment of the eye.

“I am honored to have the support of the Hawai`i ophthalmologist community,” said Duke Aiona. “These dedicated doctors are instrumental in improving the health and quality of life of all the people of Hawai`i.”

Lt. Governor Duke Aiona also received the endorsement of HAMPAC, the political arm of the Hawai`i Medical Association.

“It is a pleasure to reaffirm our commitment to Duke Aiona and all that he stands for,” said Dr. Paul DeMare, HAMPAC Chairman.

HAMPAC is a voluntary, non-profit, non-partisan organization of physicians and spouses that was founded in 1963 to financially support pro-medicine candidates seeking public office.

“It is an honor to have HAMPAC’s endorsement of my candidacy,” said Duke Aiona. “I am grateful for the care these health care professionals provide our citizens every day in the fulfillment of their calling.”
