Aiona: “May the next generation live with the purpose and conviction of our fallen heroes”
By Lt Gov Duke Aiona @ 1:19 PM :: 3929 Views :: Energy

Remembering those who gave their lives for our country is a solemn duty that evolves over time, for it is only through reflection that we may be able to see ahead.

This Memorial Day, let us proudly recognize the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who have dedicated their lives to defending our great nation. It is with profound respect and immeasurable gratitude that we remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our beloved country.

We are forever indebted to these courageous men and women who so valiantly fought and gave their lives to provide us with the freedom we have the privilege to enjoy.

This gift was not given without cost, which should never be forgotten.

It is in our hands to make certain their sacrifice was not in vain, and to honor their service by ensuring their memory lives on.

Today, we thank all of our service members and their families, and for the many families and friends whose loved ones did not return, it is with a heavy heart that we pay tribute to them now.

May we be so fortunate that the next generation lives with the purpose and conviction of our fallen heroes.

Aloha ke Akua,

Duke

STATEMENT BY LYNN FINNEGAN ON MEMORIAL DAY

HONOLULU -  Lynn Finnegan, Republican candidate for Lt. Governor, released the following statement today in honor of Memorial Day:

"Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.  It is also a day for us to honor our men and women in uniform who serve our great nation day-in and day-out.

“As a daughter and sister of U.S. military veterans, and the granddaughter of a heroic member of the Philippine Guerilla Army during World War II, generations of my family have held true to the ideals of putting country before self.

“Today, it is important that we take time to recognize the dedication and heroism of our military and veterans, by celebrating our freedoms with family and friends and by remembering those who have given much so that we might be free."
