Hart announces stations contract award

News Release from City and County of Honolulu, December 23, 2015

The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) today awarded the contract to build the Kamehameha Highway Stations Group to Nan, Inc. HART determined that the company was the lowest responsive responsible bidder for the contract. Its bid was $115.8 million.

Watts Constructors was the apparent low bidder when HART opened the bids last month. Its bid was $112.7 million. After evaluation of all the bids, Watts Constructors’ bid was deemed to be non-responsive.

The Kamehameha Highway Stations Group includes the Pearl Highlands station, the Pearlridge station and the station at Aloha Stadium.

The three stations in the Pearl City area were originally included in a nine-station package that came in well over HART's budgeted projections. HART cancelled the solicitation. In repackaging the station construction work into three smaller packages, HART was able to save nearly $40 million.

Earlier this year, HART awarded Nan, Inc. the contract to build the three stations comprising theWest Oahu Stations Group: the East Kapolei station, the Hoopili station, and the station at UH West Oahu.
