HFA/HFF Wants You as a Dream Team Member!

Aloha ka kou:       February 5, 2015

Happy New Year! Time does fly as we are now into the second month of 2015!

In case you don't know, James R. "Duke" Aiona, Jr. has answered the call to serve as the interim president and CEO of Hawaii Family Advocates (HFA).  In this position he will be able to use the experience, skills, and knowledge that he has acquired as lieutenant governor.  One of his primary roles with HFA is to serve as an advocate for laws and policy that will empower and strengthen Hawaii's families.  Currently there are several proposed bills introduced by our legislators which touch upon various subjects that we believe will have a negative impact upon Hawaii's families and children.

To name a few of these problematic bills:

  • The legalization/decriminalization of MARIJUANA and expanding MEDICAL MARIJUANA ACCESS
  • SEX EDUCATION CURRICULUM,
  • Establishment of SAFE HAVENS,
  • Religious FREEDOM
  • LIFE ISSUES including physician-assisted suicide and protection for pregnant women
  • Gambling
  • and more.

Like you, we know that our nation was found by the "people" and run by the "people."  Accordingly, we are CALLING EACH OF YOU TO ACTION.

Please join us, along with Allen Cardines (Director of Community Outreach), for a strategic meeting on TUESDAY FEBRUARY 24, 2015 at the Kamiano Center which is located in Fort Street Mall, on the same side as the Basilica of the Cathedral beginning at 6:30 P.M.  Parking is located in Century Square which is accessible from Bishop street. (Walk out of the the parking structure and walk down past the Cathedral and you will see the Kamiano Center on the left hand side.  There are picture of Fr. Damien and Mother Marianne Cope in the window.)  The focus of this meeting is to seek your assistance and discuss with you how you can partner with us and be an integral part of our CALL TO ACTION in strengthening and empowering our children and families.

To that end, we are forming "dream teams" of individuals who will be front line and center on these important issues.  You don't even know how to do anything, we will train you and provide you with all the resources you need.

We are jointly hopeful that many of you will be able to answer this CALL TO ACTION!  If you are willing and able to be part of our "dream team," please RSVP to 808-429-4872.  I am excited about what we can do TOGETHER and look forward to meeting with all of you on February 24, 2015 at the Kamiano Center beginning at 6:30 P.M.

If you are interested in joining us, please call (808) 429-4872 to reserve your spot.  Although we will allow people to walk in to register, we strongly encourage you to call us and make your reservation today!

Aloha ke Akua and see you there!
